Whether you agree or not, I consider Podstrana Croatia the most appropriate small Riviera for couples and families with children just a few steps from Split.  It’s a nearest Split town’s Riviera.

This is particularly true during the high season (July and August) when Split becomes a big hive, and the only way to avoid this mess is to choose accommodation in Podstrana.

The vicinity of Split, excellent bus connections, beautiful beaches, natural beauty of centuries-old countryside, great choice of accommodation from apartments to comfortable hotels, are just some of the benefits of this little municipality.

Come to Podstrana, and discover all the secrets of this apparently small place!

It is the most ideal combination of tranquility and harmony of nature and the sea in only 6 km long coast with gravel beaches at the foot of Perun, the slope of the mountain Mosor.

Podstrana Croatia map

Municipality Podstrana belongs to the Split-Dalmatia County. It is located southeast from the city of Split along D8 coastal road.

It is a beach town without a town center that spreads along the coast among small villages of Zrnovica, Strozanac, Grbavac, Grljevac, Sveti Martin and Mutogras.

The most fascinating part of today’s Podstrana is old Podstrana, a village of  centuries-old stone houses at the foot of steep cliffs Vrsine,  the witness of the spirit of the past with breathtaking views to Split and surrounding islands.

Getting To Podstrana Croatia

If you are arriving to Podstrana by car via the highway you should exit the highway in Dogopolje and then drive direction Split and later Omis. From the highway exit there is about 15 km to Podstrana.

Split and Podstrana are connected by dense network of bus lines. If you’re traveling by car, I would advise leaving it in Podstrana and taking the bus into Split avoiding the worst problem in Split (a parking place).
